Experienced Guides, Proven Land
Ready for the hunt of a lifetime?
Pack into the wilderness and set up for a Rocky Mountain adventure. On average, we get over 75% of our hunters a good shot at an animal. In 2014 the average shot distance during rifle Elk season was 95 yards, and our biggest bulls were both taken at under 50 yards. Like any public land outfitter we can't guarantee everyone a 50 yard shot, but with our skilled guides and exceptional hunting areas, your chances of getting a lifetime trophy are as good as it gets. We can get them in your sights. The rest is up to you. See you at camp! Book soon as there are limited spots available at our camps.
Meet the Guides
Owner and guide Dave Mapes has been an outfitter in the Gunnison Valley for over 37 years. Needless to say, he knows these woods better than anyone. He's got the experience and the know-how to lead you wherever you need to go. He not only knows the area, but the wildlife that live there as well. Dave's the kind of guy you want as a guide, and he's a good guy to have around the campfire as well. There's a reason he's been outfitting for nearly 4 decades.
Rick is a Colorado native and lifelong outdoorsman. He's been hunting since childhood and calling in elk for over 25 years. In addition, he's an accomplished fly fisherman who's prior professional career included sponsorships by Stren and G. Loomis, and he's landed multiple trout over 20lbs (yes, you read that right). Whether your goal is a monster bull or to catch some high mountain brook trout, Rick is the man for the job.
Troy is a born-and-raised Gunnison Valley local and a new but talented member of the guiding team. He's a lifelong elk, deer, and waterfowl hunter and has been practicing elk calling for years. He has a passion for hunting, fishing, and just being in the woods. A member of the Crested Butte High School class of 2013, he's now guiding full-time during hunting season with Quaking Aspen Outfitters.
